Major Patrick Nulty

Served in REME 1970 - 2005.  Began as a Private completed service as a Major.

Volunteered for Airborne Forces and Parachute training on completion of trade (Veh Mech) training in May 1972.  Passed pre-Para (1 Para Log Regt), P Coy (Aldershot/Brecon) and Parachute training (No1 Para Sch, Abingdon)  between Jan - Mar 1973.  Posted to 1 Para Log Regt on completion of Para training. Served with 16 Para Bde units on exercise: 7 Para RHA (Cyprus 73); 2 Para Ex DEEP FURROW (Turkey 73); 3 Para (Italy 75).  Posted to 2 Para Dec 76 and deployed with 2 Para to Berlin 77-79  Left 2 Para Jan 79 for long REME Course at SEME, Bordon.

Following training at SEME posted to BAOR as SSgt to 1 Kings LAD (Mechanised Infantry) Jun 80 - Jan 83 inc Op BANNER tour to HMP Maze.

Selected for commissioning in REME and posted to 7 Armd Wksp REME Dec 89 - Jun 92.  Completed Operational tour (Op GRANBY) to Saudi Arabia/Iraq/Kuwait (Nov 90 - Apr 91)

Posted Vehs & Wpns Br, REME, Chertsey as Proj Offr and 2i/c 11 MAG then 8 MAG (RETS), Mar 94 - Jan 96

Promoted to Major and posted to HQ CSSG (UK), Aldershot as SO2 ES. Jan 96 - Dec 98.  Completed operational tour to HQ UK NSE, FRY and exercises in Brisbane, Australia (Ex RAINBOW SEPENT) and North Carolina (Ex PURPLE STAR).

Posted to Chertsey/Andover to command technical group responsible for support to the Field Army for a wide ranging group of equipments. Dec 98 -Feb 00.  Completed operational tour as SO2 Tpt & Mov) to NATO HQ, Pristina FRY.

Posted to HQ 143 (WM) Bde, Shrewsbury as SO2(ES) Feb 00 - Aug 02. Exercises in Holland and Kenya.

Posted to Loan Service post (SO2 Mech) with Sultan of Oman's Armd Forces Aug 02 - May 04.

Posted to 5 Bn REME, Catterick May 04 - Feb 05 and then final post to ABRO Donnington before resigning in Sep 05.

Played rugby for The ARMY and BAOR, Cricket for Army, Cyprus, squash and golf for REME.
