Sergeant Kenneth B Hughes

Sergeant Kenneth Broderick Hughes, son of Arthur James Samuel Hughes and Elizabeth (nee Broderick) Hughes, and he served with the RHG in Iraq, Syria, Gazala and Alamein. He then volunteered for airborne forces, whilst in the Middle East, and served with 156 Parachute Battalion as the Provost Sgt. He was in the Battalion boxing team.

He completed Parachute Course 36 at RAF Kabrit in the Middle East in 1943.

He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Sergeant Hughes died on 19 September 1944 and was originally interred northeast of the Hotel Bilderberg, aged 26 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem, grave 32A5.
