Bombardier George Stainthorpe

George Stainthorpe was born in Irlam, Manchester on 31 December 1932.

He did his National Service with 173 Locating battery, based in Hong Kong between 1 March 1951 to 22 March 1953, as a Regimental Signaller.

Following his national Service George joined 377 Locating battery, Gateshead. He served here from 22 March 1953 to 13 February 1954.

He then volunteered for the Parachute Regiment, 17 Bn DLI, 5 Coy, on 14 February 1954. George was successfully jump trained 7 June to 19 June 1954.

He left the Army on 14 January 1957.
