I originally uploaded this photo under the title "The Early War Years" but have since come to realise that this was late in the war (1945).

In retrospect, judging by the officer's Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) cap badge, this photograph would have been taken c1941, prior to Cpl. Holtom joining the Parachute Regiment.
