44 Parachute Field Ambulance RAMC (TA)

1950 to 1956

4 Parachute Field Ambulance (TA) (4 PFA (TA)) was a Territorial Army unit, which was part of 16 Airborne Division (TA), and formed in 1947 to support 4 Parachute Brigade (TA).

4 Parachute Brigade (TA) was redesignated as 44 Parachute Brigade (TA) in 1950 and 4 PFA (TA) was correspondingly renumbered as 44 Parachute Field Ambulance (TA).

16 Airborne Division (TA) was disbanded in 1956  and 44 Independent Parachute Brigade Group (TA) was established in its place.

44 PFA (TA) was redesignated as 144 Parachute Field Ambulance RAMC (TA) to support the new parachute brigade group.
