William Thomas Aldous was the son of Thomas and Gertrude Aldous and the husband of Catherine Aldous, of Ascot, Berkshire. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers and volunteered for airborne forces.
Driver Aldous successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 286 (Airborne) Field Park Company, Royal Engineers, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy Landings).
Dvr Aldous was killed in action on 20 June 1944, aged 24, and was buried at Ranville War Cemetery.
