Signalman William S Walkley

William Stanley Walkley was born and lived in south west London, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Signalman Walkley successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 87, from 13 to 25 October 1943 and was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Overlord (D day landings).

Sgmn Walkley was killed in action on 8 June 1944, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
