Private William Pollock

William Pollock was born in Glasgow and lived in Perthshire. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Pollock successfully completed his parachute training at RAF, Kabrit, Egypt. He was posted to 6 Platoon, B Company, 156 Battalion, The Parachute Regiment as Batman to Lt Ronald W Wood, and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Pollock was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 20, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
