Lieutenant-Colonel William Pender

William Pender was commissioned into The Intelligence Corps in 1961 and later transferred to The Royal Artillery.

He also served in the Canadian Army and completed his basic parachute course at Rivers, Manitoba, in 1967.

From 1968 to 1970 he was a Troop Commander with 1 Para Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, an independent battery of six 105mm pack howitzers, part of the Canadian Airborne Regiment based in Edmonton, Alberta, and commanded by Lt Col Don Rochester.

Promoted to Lt Col in The Royal Artillery in 1981, William Pender retired from the British Army in December 1984.
