Private William Nelson Thompson, son of William Henry and Elizabeth Thompson, of Knowle Park, Bristol, served with 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Border Regiment. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
Private Thompson died on 21 September 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
