Private William G Blay

William George Blay was born and lived in South East London, he enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Blay successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Blay was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 27, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 22 April 1947.
