Lieutenant William A Colbert

William Arthur Colbert was a Canloan officer CDN 138 who was posted with the 1st Battalion Border Regiment in 1944. He became part of Reserve Company; Home Detail.

He was one of three Canadian officers posted to Woodhall Spa on the 23 April. Lts Comper and 'Buster' Crabbe joined with William as the Canadian forces had a surplus of junior officers, many of whom volunteered for service with British units. Crabbe was tragically killed in a PIAT accident on 4 June and was buried at Brookwood Military Cemetery at Woking.
