Private Wilfred Sheppard enlised into the Royal Artillery in 1939, and volunteered for The Parachute Regiment in 1943. He attended Parachute Training Course number 86 at RAF Ringway on 4-19 October. He was posted to B Company, 9th Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Pte Sheppard died on 17 August 1944, aged 22 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
