Private Walter Stones

Private Walter Stones served with the Duke of Wellington's Regiment and volunteered for The Parachute Regiment in 1943. He attended parachute training course number 91 at RAF Ringway between 11 and 26 November 1943. Pte Stones was posted to the 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.

Pte Stones died on 12 June 1944, aged 19 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
