Corporal Walter Pollard

Walter Pollard was born in Kent and lived in Surrey, he enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Pollard successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Cpl Pollard was killed in action on 24 March 1945, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany, on 24 April 1947.
