Lance Corporal Walter Nunn

Walter Nunn was the son of Lewis and Minnie Nunn, of Bloxwich, Staffordshire. He enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Nunn successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

L/Cpl Nunn was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 22, and was buried in the Arnhem Communal Roman Catholic Cemetery, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 27 August 1945.
