Private Walter Moor

Walter Moor was the son of Tom and Annie Moor, of Penrith, Cumberland and the husband of Annie Moor. He enlisted into the East Lancashire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Private Moor successfully completed his glider training and was posted to C Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Moor was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 29, and was given a field burial in a group of graves behind the Paasberg school, Oosterbeek, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 10 September 1945.
