Private Walter Halliwell

Walter Halliwell, was the son of Harry and Ada Halliwell, of Leeds, Yorkshire, and husband of Olive Halliwell, also of Leeds. He enlisted into the the Gordon Highlanders before volunteering for airborne forces.

Private Halliwell attended parachute training course number 10 at RAF Ringway from 16-27 March 1942.

He served with 3rd Parachute Battalion and took part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch.

Private Halliwell died in a training accident on 26 April 1943, aged 27 years old. He is now buried at El Alia Cemetery, Algeria.
