Driver Walter Canning

Walter Canning was the son of John and Margaret Canning, of Glasgow. He enlisted in the Suffolk Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Canning successfully completed glider training and was posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Dvr Canning was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 19, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
