Driver Wallace Morrison

Wallace Morrison was the son of Ethel Morrison, of Witham, Essex. He enlisted into the General Service Corps, transferred to the Royal Engineers and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Driver Morrison successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 93, from 29 November to 13 December 1943. His course report stated the he was “A good performer”, and he was posted to C Troop, 1 Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Dvr Morrison was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 20, and was given a field burial in an isolated grave near the St Elisabeth Hospital at Arnhem, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 23 August 1945.
