Lance Sergeant Victor J Lewis

21 Sep 1944

Lance Sergeant Victor John Lewis, son of Mr and Mrs W H Lewis, of Carmarthen, served with 10th Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Lance Sergeant Lewis was wounded on 21 September 1944, and last seen being carried to a first aid post. There was no further news of him, and he was recorded as missing. 

It was eventually concluded that Lance Sergeant Lewis died on 21 September 1944, aged 26 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Arnhem.
