Tommy Booth served with 11 Flight, E Squadron, No 2 Wing of The Glider Pilot Regiment and took part, as second pilot, in the Normandy and Arnhem operations.
At the end of the Battle of Arnhem he was able to safely withdraw with the remnants of the 1st British Airborne Division to the safety of allied lines.
