Private Tom Ashurst

Private Tom Ashurst, husband of May Ashurst, of Waterhead, Oldham, Lancashire, served with 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Border Regiment and was attached to HQ 1st Airlanding Brigade, as part of the Defence Platoon. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

He died on 24 September 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
