Gunner Thomas Sime

Thomas Sime was born in West Lothian and lived in Edinburgh. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Gunner Sime successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st Battery, 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Gnr Sime was killed in action on 22 September 1944, aged 34, by enemy mortar fire. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
