Thomas Patrick Sutton was the son of Thomas and Bridget Mary (Byrne) Sutton, of Dublin, Irish Republic, he enlisted in The King’s Royal Rifle Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Sutton successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Sutton died of wounds on 26 March 1945, age 22, and was given a field burial at Kapellen, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 15 November 1946.
