Private Thomas Henry Crutchley was born in Field Road, Bloxwich, the son of Thomas H and Clara Crutchley, and husband of Lily Annie Crutchley, of Winson Green, Birmingham.
He began his military service with the South Staffordshire Regiment, and was subsequently attached to 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Normandy operation and died on 19 August 1944, aged 27 years old. He is now buried at Putot-En-Auge Churchyard, Normandy.
