Corporal Thomas A Gay

Thomas Albert Gay, the son of Norman Thomas and Mrs Gay and husband of Nellie Eola Gay, of Burgess Hill, Sussex, enlisted into the East Surrey Regiment, and then volunteered for the airborne forces.

Corporal Gay attended parachute course 36 at RAF Ringway from 6 to 12 November 1942 and was posted to B Company, 2nd Parachute Battalion and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.

Cpl Gay was Killed in Action on 29 March 1943, age 26. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
