Private Thomas Garnett

Thomas Garnett was the son of Thomas and Mary Garnett and the husband of Olive Garnett, of Stockton Heath, Cheshire. He enlisted in The Prince of Wales’ Volunteers and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Garnett successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Garnett was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 25, in the Johannahoeve area. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
