Lance Corporal Thomas Chambers

Thomas Chambers was the son of Thomas and Mary Chambers and the husband of Sylvia Chambers, of Swansea, Wales. He enlisted in the Royal Ulster Rifles and volunteered for airborne forces.

Lance Corporal Chambers successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

L/Cpl Chambers was killed in action on 13 June 1944, aged 25, and was given a field burial near Longueval, France. He was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery on 12 June 1945.
