Thomas Albert Carter, the son of Albert and Margaret Carter; nephew of Mary Knight, of Potters Bar, Middlesex enlisted into the General Service Corps before volunteering for airborne forces.

He successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course 191 on 25 February 1946.

Private Carter was posted the Reserve Battalion and then 8th (Midland) Parachute Battalion.

Pte Carter served in Palestine.

He died on 19 October 1946 and is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
