Private Thomas B Davis

Thomas Brendan Davis, son of John and Rosanne, of Bootle, Liverpool and nephew of Mary Dutton, of Bootle, enlisted into The Royal Armoured Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Davis successfully completed parachute training on course 72 at RAF Ringway on 12 to 23 July 1943. His course report stated 'Keen and efficient. Good in section.' He was posted to 4 Platoon, B Company, 13th (Lancashire) Parachute Battalion.

He fought in the Normandy campaign and took part in the 6th Airborne Division response to the German counter-offensive in the Ardennes, during the winter of 1944-5.

Pte Davis died of wounds during the Battle of Bure on 3 January 1945, aged 21. He was given a field burial in Bure, Tellin and later reinterred in Hotton War Cemetery on 21 May 1947.
