Sydney Hoyle enlisted in Hull in September 1965 ito The Corps of Royal Engineers.

WO2 Hoyle served with airborne forces from 1966-72 9 with Independent Parachute Squadron RE and again from 1977-80 with 9 Parachute Squadron RE.

During his military service he served on Operation Corporate (The Falklands Campaign) and several tours Operation Banner (Northern Ireland). He undertook tours and exercises in Belize, Canada, Germany, Kenya, Libya and Norway.

He left the armed forces in October 1988 after over 23 years’ service.

Sydney is secretary of the Hull Branch Parachute Regimental Association and Treasurer for Parachute Regimental Association (Yorkshire Region)
