Gunner Svend O Korup

Svend O Korup was the son of J. C. Korup and Hilda Korup, of Aabybro, Denmark.

He successfully completed his parachute training on the 25 July 1946. It was noted that he was an "Intelligent performer, good soldier"

Gunner Korup was then posted to the Royal Artillery holding depot in Woolwich before being transferred to 87 Parachute Light Regiment, Royal Artillery. He served in Palestine.

Gnr Korup was lost at sea from the Runnymede Park while the ships were anchored off Marseilles. He fell accidentally from a ship-to-shore ferry at night on 12 August 1947 and is now buried in Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles.
