Stuart Rex Raynham was the foster son of Walter and Lilian Hammond; husband of Alice Florence Raynham, of Cranford, Hounslow, Middlesex, he enlisted in the Royal Irish Fusiliers, and volunteered for airborne forces.
Corporal Raynham successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in operation Overlord (Normandy).
Cpl Raynham was killed in action on 8 June 1944, age 30, and was given a field burial at Longueval and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 8 June 1945.
