Driver Stephen Curtis

Stephen Curtis was the son of Stephen and Beatrice Curtis, of Hayes, Middlesex, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Curtis successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway, on course number 106, from 6 to 16 March 1944. His course report stated “Inclined to be nervous, otherwise a good performer”. He was posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Dvr Curtis was killed in action on 10 June 1944, aged 24, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
