Lieutenant Stanley Wandless was the son of Albert and Ethel Wandless, of Gloucester, and husband of Julie Wandless, of Gosport, Hampshire. He served with 1st Parachute Battalion and took part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch and was posthumously awarded the Military Cross for his actions in February 1943.
Lieutenant Wandless died on 6 January 1943, aged 27 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia.
