Sergeant Stanley E Hardy

Stanley Enoch Hardy was the husband of Phyllis G C Hardy, of Bebington, Cheshire. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Sergeant Hardy successfully completed glider training and parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Sgt Hardy died of wounds in Stalag XIB at Soltau on 31 October 1944, aged 35, and was given a Field Burial in a POW cemetery at Orbke, Germany. He was reinterred to Becklingen War Cemetery on 12 August 1946.
