Sidney William Willmin was born in Buckinghamshire and lived in Oxford, he enlisted in the Oxford and Buckingham Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.
Company-Quarter-Master-Sergeant Willmin successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
CQMS Willmin was killed in action on on 24 March 1945, aged 30, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 23 April 1947.
