Private Sidney Maddocks

Sidney Maddocks was the son of John and Rosa Maddocks. He enlisted in the Army Catering Corps, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Maddocks successfully completed his glider training, and was attached to the Royal Artillery and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Maddocks was killed in action on 22 September 1944, aged 37, and was given a field burial in the garden of Pietersberg house, Oosterbeek and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 3 September 1945.
