Sapper Sidney John Cross, grandson of Mrs H Peacock, of Ely, Cambridgeshire, served with 3rd Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers.
He took part in the Normandy campaign and died on 10 August 1944, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
