Private Sidney Cecil Pavett enlisted in September 1953 and after completion of basic and parachute training he was awarded his wings in March 1954.

After a spell in the isolation ward of Cambridge Military Hospital, Aldershot due to an contagious illness, he was posted to I Platoon, C Company, 2 PARA in the Canal Zone, Egypt until returning home at the end of August 1954.

Pte ‘Sid’ Pavett was medically discharge in January 1955.
