Sergeant Sidney B R Knight

Sidney Bon Robert Knight, son of William and Laura Knight; husband of Joyce Knight, of East Dulwich, London, enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment and then volunteered for airborne forces.

Sergeant Knight successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to Intelligence Section, 11th Battalion, the Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Sgt Knight is known to have been killed at the time of the withdrawal over the Rhine in Oosterbeek on 26 September 1944, aged 29. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial.
