Flight Sergeant Semon Lievense

Semon Lievense was the son of Morris and Louise Lievense, of St Boniface, Manitoba, Canada. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Flight/ Sergeant Lievense was a member of 6080 Light Warning Unit, Radar Detachment, Royal Air Force, he was given some glider training and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

F/Sgt Lievense landed by glider near Randwijk on 18 September 1944 and was killed in action near the Hartenstein Hotel on 22 September 1944, aged 27, and was given a field burial in front of the building. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 8 August 1945.
