Private Samuel T Walker

Samuel Thomas Walker was born and lived in Angus. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Walker successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to Support Company, 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Walker, being wounded, was in hospital at Apeldoorn. He was taken to Stalag XIB at Soltau and died of his wounds, aged 20, on 25 February 1945. He was given a field burial in the POW Cemetery at Orbke, Germany, and reinterred to Becklingen War Cemetery on 12 August 1946.
