S G Stedman, son of John Clay Stedman and Janet Stedman, of Great Corby, Cumberland, successfully completed his parachute training at Ringway on 21 February 1946. It was noted that Stedman was a 'good, keen, cheerful and confident' jumper.

Craftsman Stedman was posted to 1st Parachute Battalion to serve in Palestine. He died on 19 July 1947 and is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
