Sergeant Ronald W W Mance

25 Dec 1914 - 24 Mar 1945

Ronald Walter William Mance was the son of William and Violet Winifred (Daly) Mance; husband of Anne Marguerite (Lintern) Mance, of Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire. Married at Amersham, Bucks in July 1944. He enlisted in The Royal Fusiliers, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Serjeant Mance successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, and took part in operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Sgt Mance was killed in action on 25 March 1945, age 30, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany on 18 April 1947.
