Private Ronald H Trafford

Ronald Henry Trafford was the son of Arthur Victor and Emma Maud Trafford, of Hull, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Private Trafford successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 89 from 28 October to 9 November 1943. His course report stated “Very good jumper, keen, reliable, cheerful”. He was posted to C Company, 7th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Pte Trafford was killed in action on 7 July 1944, aged 20, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
