Signalman Ronald E J Edney

Ronald Edwin John Edney was the son of Thomas John William and Beatrice Maud Edney, of Hounslow, Middlesex, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Signalman Edney successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway, on course number 35 from 19 October to 7 November 1942 and was posted to 6th Airborne Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Sgmn Edney was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 20, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 10 April 1947.
