Private Ronald B Lapham

Ronald Bartrum Lapham was the son of Herbert George and Mary Alice (Hannam) Lapham, of Westfield, Somerset; husband of Violetta (Hemmingway) Lapham. Married October 1943 in Norton, Somerset. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Private Lapham successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).

Pte Lapham was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 24, and was given a field burial at Hamminkeln, Germany, and was re-interred to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery on 24 April 1947.
