Private Roger F Cantin

Roger Frank Cantin enlisted into the Gloustershire Regiment in 1942, and volunteered for The Parachute Regiment in 1943. Private Cantin attended parachute training course number 85 at RAF Ringway between 29 September and 10 October 1943. His course report stated that he was 'Cheerful and hardworking, a good No 6 in aircraft'.

Pte Cantin was posted to 4 Platoon, B Company, 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.

Pte Cantin died on 6 June 1944, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
